Succulent plants

The other day I went out in my back yard just to look around and sit in the warm, healing sunshine.  We have had such foggy days these past few months, I always feel I need to go outdoors when the weather is nice.  After sitting for a few minutes and looking at my groomed yard, I felt the need to do something.  There was a succulent plant in my geranium pot that begged to be replanted, so up I got to take care of it.  It seemed like an easy job.  Just put dirt in a pot, stick the plant in it and water.  When I finished I felt a little poem coming on, which I had to work at a little.  It has been a long time since I wrote a poem.  I think sitting in the garden inspired me.

A succulent appeared in my geranium pot.
How it arrived there, I know not.
It must have really like the place,
Since it started taking up more space.

But its neighbor felt crowded out
And began feeling droopy, without  doubt.
Now there are five succulents in a row
In their own cozy pots to grow.

The weather is foggy again, and the days are getting darker, but I always feel better when I get outdoors in a natural setting.  I am so lucky to live in this beautiful city near the ocean, no matter what the weather.
