Poems of Trees and Clouds at the Cabin

August 2014--Cabin

A sudden gust of air rushes way up high
Like the sound of a river flowing in the sky.
The trees are left dancing gracefully in its wake,
Adding a serene tranquil feeling to my afternoon break.

August 2014--Cabin
While doing Yoga on the Porch

Fleecy white islands float on a sea of blue
Morphing, changing to a darker hue.
Like a flock of white birds soaring in flight,
Webs of sinewy strands glide by my sight.

The cottony forms move silently with grace
While following others in a Northward race.
How wondrous to watch clouds drifting by
While lying on the ground and gazing at the sky.

August 2015
At the cabin during a drought.

Oh Majestic One, stately and proud,
Your supple form waving in the breeze--
Where once you nourished the little ones
Your life now diminishes from insects and disease.

You gave us your beauty, strength and grace,
You succored the young and the old.
You were a sentinel guarding this place
Thru the hot summers and the winter's cold.

Your limbs grow weak, so dry and brittle,
but creatures still come to nestle with you.
Your shedding branches soon will be bare
As your color fades to a deathly hue.

How long have you stood there growing each year?
And how long will it be til you fall?
But all is not lost as life's cycle goes on,
When new growth will heal us all.
